All the things that happen in my Country are part of a civil war. I'll tell you what I know about it.

The North of Sudan has always been the most wealthy and nourished part of my nation...because it has the capital city, which is Khartoum, and the important projects, big companies and markets are almost all located in Khartoum City. Meanwhile the other three parts of the Country (which are the majority), live in poverty. The Government kept busy setting solid fundations in the capital city and took no care of the other zones of Sudan. Can you believe 90% of the universities are located in Khartoum?! That means no education for anybody living outside Khartoum, and that's the reason why many people left their home towns and came to Khartoum looking for work and hoping a better future for themselves and their families. But of course, with no education, they occupied minor jobs that barely allowed them to have enough money to eat, so they began to envy citizens of Khartoum because they earn more money and they live a better life while they were living in poverty. Soon they made comparisons and quickly understood that this was unfair. In Khartoum City the government pays for everything, but it does very little for the welfare of people living in Darfur, East and South.

That's why southern citizens started to gather around one man who was saying "this situation is unfair", "we deserve a better life". That man was John Garing and he asked people to claim self ruling, he wants the South to become independent from the government in Khartoum and collected a small group of people as an army.

I was forgeting to tell you that the majority in South Sudan are christians, and that also made them feel less than the muslims, which contributed to the problem.

On the other side, the government told people those are outlaws and we have to fight them. I´m sure this was the biggest mistake they made because they made people fight each other and now northen people fight their brothers in the south when we are suppoused to be united, to be one Country. This is what is going on in South Sudan.

In West Sudan, Darfur, people also had enough of the government and decided to start the fight against what they call "the bad government" (Janjaweed Groups). It's very sad that the victims in all of this are the innocents of Darfur who had to leave their homes because of the war...it is really tragic.

I always thank God I grew up in the North of Sudan, where there is no war. I thank God for the education I have, the good life I have and for my family.

Well, this is what I know about the whole thing here in Sudan. I'm also showing you some pictures below about the situation in Darfur.

This first photograph shows Marrah Mountains in Western Sudan...it has a beautiful weather and nature...all this before the war.

This is a picture of a river in the west called Sobat River. Can you see how beautiful the place was before the war started?

A camp of refugees of Darfur. Their homes are just sticks and tents.

Houses of citizens on fire.

This picture shows women standing in long lines to get food. By the way, in Darfur women go out and do all the work, men almost do nothing.

Soldiers are threatening children to tell them where their fathers are, and where are they hiding guns.

This is the only available school to go ... a man volunteered to teach children the alphabet and some words.

A tragic photo. This is the picture that captured the world; a child and his mother were running away from war and looking for something to eat, but the mother got sick and died in the middle of the road! It's really sad. I put this picture only because I want people to know the situation in Darfur is really bad and needs immediate help.
